We are seeking a passionate Backend Software Engineer to join our Independent Hotels unit. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the future of our projects by developing scalable APIs and backend services for trivago Business Studio, our hotelier product. How you’ll make an impact:
- Write clean, maintainable, and testable code and monitor the components or features being developed
- Proactively contribute to the Independent Hotel’s unit projects
- Develop and maintain a varied microservice ecosystem
- Set up efficient and high-performing database queries in MySQL
- Collaborate with frontend, QA, design, and concept teams

What we’re looking for:
- Educational background in a core module in IT or comparable apprenticeship
- 3+ years of software development experience using Java, Kotlin, NodeJS, or PHP
- Experience in building APIs and backend services through logical reasoning
- Strong focus on performance, accessibility, and API design
- A team player who enjoys collaborating with different stakeholders and sharing knowledge
- Ability to effectively communicate complex topics to non-technical peers and stakeholders
